British woman attempts to crowdfund boob job
A woman from Warrington is attempting to fund a boob job by asking complete strangers to donate money towards the cost of her surgery.
Paige Cooke, 20, has signed up to a website where strangers from around the world can contribute towards the cost of her breast implants.
She hopes to boost her breasts from a 32A to a double D.
So far Paige has raised around £300 towards the cost of her surgery, having signed up just over a month ago.
The website Paige has used has been criticised by The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and we won’t link to it from this website.
However, Paige says she feels happy using the site as she thinks it’s the only way she will be able to afford an operation she’s wanted since she was 13-years-old.
“I want the operation to boost my self-esteem,” she said. “A breast enlargement would give me so much more confidence and help me feel like a woman.”
The website allows people to chat with women like Paige, who are trying to raise money for surgery, in return for donations.
Once Paige has raised the amount required the website will then pay for her surgery – which must be carried out by a General Medical Council approved surgeon.
Paige said: “Most men are on the website because they want to help people. Some re sometimes a bit flirtatious but they’ve been respectful when I’ve asked them to back off.”
The website includes guidance on whether or not having surgery is the right decision for users and also warns that having cosmetic surgery is a major decision and should be considered carefully.
