New York surgeon turns outie belly buttons into innies
A surgeon based in New York has perfected a relatively new body reshaping procedure, in which he can turn an “outie” belly button into an “innie”, in a matter of minutes.
Whether it is the way you were born, or perhaps as a result of pregnancy, you may be dissatisfied with the appearance of your stomach. A lot of people, mainly women, have felt just that have gone to visit Dr Matthew Schulman, who has fixed their issue for them.
Schulman has used his training as both a general and plastic surgeon to design his procedure, and claims that he does more belly button surgeries a month than most plastic surgeons do in their entire career!
The procedure is performed by numbing the area with local anaesthetic, and creates a small incision to gain access to the hernia, or hole, that causes the belly button to poke out.
The hole is then stitched closed, with the belly button being pinned down from the inside. The incision is then closed up and the procedure is complete, in as little as 30 minutes.
A relatively non-invasive procedure, the patient can remove the bandage after three days, and it will be completely healed in four weeks. The procedure does, however, cost nearly £2,500. Not bad for half an hours work!
