Significant increase in ‘gifting’ cosmetic procedures for 2015
Experts in the plastic surgery field have reported a significant hike in the number of patients giving the gift of plastic surgery to loved ones and friends this festive season.
Some clinics have reported a 35% rise in requests for cosmetic procedures this year.
There have also been increased of 25% in Botox gift-giving as well as a 20% in other fillers.
A recent survey conducted in the United States by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) confirmed that more people are gifting aesthetic procedures than ever before – and the trend is taking hold across the country.
Manhattan-based dermatologist Dr. Elizabeth Hale told Yahoo Shine that from mothers getting laser hair removal for their daughters to sisters giving each other Botox at $500 to $1,100 per shot, she has ‘seen it all’.
Professionals have explained that winter is an ideal time for surgery. Young patients typically have the Christmas holiday off from school to recover, and colder weather and less daylight make conditions ideal for procedures such as chemical peels.
It’s thought that around a third of requests are from women buying procedures for men.
