The procedure itself takes 1.5 – 2 hours and is performed by creating an incision in the armpit in which the implant is inserted underneath the existing pectoral muscle which come in a variety of sizes that vary in width and projection, which you will discuss with your surgeon beforehand in order to create the look you are after.
As it’s a surgical procedure there is a recuperation period to allow for the desired results, after the procedure you won’t be able to drive for 2 weeks and you should rest your shoulder and chest area for this time, we suggest lying in any comfortable position other than on your front whenever possible. Bruising usually lasts only 10-14 days but swelling may last for up-to 6 weeks and any handling of the chest area must be very gentle.
Any strenuous exercise and lifting should be avoided for at least 4-6 weeks and avoid any tight fitting clothing should be avoided during this time. Alcohol and aspirin should also be avoided for the first 3 weeks following the procedure and you should not use sunbeds or expose your pectoral area to direct sunlight for 6-8 weeks following the surgery.
