Massive increases in male surgery revealed
The male cosmetics industry is an ever-changing landscape, with incredible increases in the amount of men going under the knife in the last 15 years. The main reasoning behind undergoing these surgeries was to boost their confidence both in their appearance and mental attitude towards their bodies.
This was a particularly popular reason for those who had lost a significant amount of weight, be it for the reason of looks, ridding themselves of the excess skin, or for more important health issues that may have formed from being overweight, such as skin rashes and infections in the folds of the skin. With this surgery that proving to be one of the most popular procedures including: liposuction, a male tummy tuck, and arm and leg lifts for those who has lost a significant amount of weight.
The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, who only represents a sector of cosmetic surgery procedures, revealed that their estimate for men having gone under the knife for cosmetic surgery was over 4,500 in 2015. This is an increase of over 110% since 2000. This is partially due to the procedures being more widely accepted, as well as more readily available.
The most popular surgeries for men included male breast reduction surgery, a nose job, and eyelid surgery. These procedures differ slightly to those that would be underdone on a woman due to the different features of the male body, such as thicker skin around the nose. However still prove to be a popular option, particularly for the aging man.
